Pune for Business Travel: A Guide by Zone

Pune is really two different business cities layered on top of each other. On one side, it’s one of India’s largest automotive and manufacturing hubs, centered around Chakan and the surrounding industrial belt. On the other, it’s a major IT and technology hub, with sprawling campuses in Hinjewadi, Kharadi, and Magarpatta. A travel desk booking Pune trips needs to know which Pune they’re actually sending someone to — the two zones aren’t remotely close to each other, and traffic between them can eat hours out of a business day.
This guide breaks Pune down by the zones that matter most for corporate travel.

Why Pune Isn’t One Business Destination
Pune’s business geography is spread wide — Chakan sits roughly 30–40 km north of the city core, while Hinjewadi, Kharadi, and central Pune are scattered across the city in different directions again. Booking a hotel based on “Pune” as a single destination, without knowing exactly which zone the actual meeting is in, is one of the more common and avoidable mistakes a travel desk can make here. Traffic between zones can easily turn a 25 km trip into 90 minutes or more.
Zone 1: Chakan — Automotive & Manufacturing
Chakan MIDC is one of Maharashtra’s largest automotive and manufacturing corridors — the reason most travelers heading here are engineers, vendors, or teams involved in plant visits and manufacturing work, not typical office meetings.
Property to consider: Click Hotels Lite Chakan — positioned directly inside the Chakan Industrial Area on the Talegaon–Chakan Highway, built specifically for this kind of industrial, plant-visit travel.
Zone 2: Hinjewadi — Pune’s IT Corridor
Hinjewadi is Pune’s largest IT hub, home to sprawling campuses for major technology and services companies across its multiple phases. Travelers here are typically in software, IT services, or corporate offices rather than manufacturing — a genuinely different kind of trip from a Chakan visit.
We’re expanding our property coverage in this zone — if your team travels here regularly, get in touch and we can help identify well-suited options directly.
Zone 3: Kharadi & Magarpatta — East Pune IT Parks
On the opposite side of the city from Hinjewadi, Kharadi and Magarpatta form another significant IT and business park cluster, with a number of large corporate campuses. For teams whose meetings are based here, a Hinjewadi-area hotel would mean a genuinely long, traffic-heavy crosstown trip — this zone needs its own dedicated stay.

Zone 4: Camp & Central Pune
Pune’s older central business district — Camp, Koregaon Park, and the surrounding areas — houses a mix of traditional businesses, government offices, and some corporate headquarters. It’s a different, more centrally located option for travelers whose work isn’t tied to either the IT corridors or the industrial belt.
How to Choose the Right Zone
The same rule that applies to Mumbai applies here: book based on where the actual meeting is, not on “Pune” as a general destination. A hotel in Hinjewadi is a poor choice for a Chakan plant visit, and vice versa — the zones are far enough apart that this decision meaningfully affects how much of a business day gets lost to travel.
